Eight months ago today, my wife gave birth to an amazing baby boy. This is our first child and as such, it’s been very stressful. Are we doing things right? Why in the world is he crying? Why does it seem more milk is coming out of him then went in him? What’s that smell?
We’ve been using the Angelcare monitor since day one and it has been the single best child-related purchase we’ve made so far. It’s the one thing that has actually relieved a little stress on us as parents. We’re all aware of SIDS and how scary it is to think about. A simple sound monitor won’t help you sleep any easier. A video monitor won’t either. But, when you know that an alarm will sound if your child stops breathing/moving, then you have some peace of mind. If that should ever happen, would you be able to even make a difference? Could you revive your child? I hope I don’t have to answer that question, but at least with the Angelcare monitor I feel like I have a fighting chance.
We did not have a single false alarm until around 6-7 months. The alarm went off, and we proceeded to freak out. The manual says that false alarms can be caused by really deep sleep. Our boy was starting to sleep better and I think this was the case, because even the alarm hadn’t woke him up when we arrived on scene (our craziness did wake him up though). We chalked it up to a fluke. It happened again a week or so later and that’s when we upped the sensitivity on the nursery unit. We haven’t had a false alarm since.
In this day and age, it’s rare that something actually works the way it’s supposed to. Hence the reason I’m so impressed with this monitor. The sound is clear. The range is good (our room is downstairs and the baby’s is up). The charge on the parent’s unit can last a couple of days without being charged. The night light is a nice bonus. This monitor does what it says it does, and it does it well. I would recommend this to any parent!

I am a first time mom and paranoid of all the dangers for an infant. I am terrified of SIDS. I couldn’t sleep at night because I was waking every 20 minutes to check on my baby. One night when I checked on her, she was breathing so shallow I couldn’t feel her tummy rise. I thought she had stopped breathing I panicked and shook her torso; she jumped and started to cry because I had scared her. After that she slept in my bed, but again I didn’t sleep because I was afraid of her wiggling under me. I couldn’t keep doing this to myself or my daughter. I didn’t even know they made a monitor like this until I was desperately trying to find anything that monitors breathing on Amazon. After I received the monitor, I can finally sleep again and my daughter is happy sleeping in her crib without me freaking out and waking her up.
The pad goes under the crib mattress and plugs into the main base monitor. The base monitor plugs into an outlet and blinks to show that there is breathing/any movement in the crib. It can detect the slightest movement. The listening monitor has a base that recharges itself, so I leave that part plugged into an outlet next to my night stand. The listening monitor can be set to also go off to wake me her my daughters room get too hot or too cold (you set the temperatures), and if I take the monitor too far out of range. If the main base monitor does not detect any movement for 20 seconds it will beep loud (like a fire alarm) in her room and my monitor in my room will also beep loudly and vibrate.
I did have a false alarm once. My daughter had wiggled herself all the way to the corner of her crib. Everything was fine though. I’d rather have false alarms like that then to not be woken at all.
Another great feature that this product has is on the listening monitor there is a little swigging ball. This shows that there is movement/breathing movement in her crib. I like this because sometimes I still wake up, but I can be reassured by just looking at the movement on my screen. I highly recommend this product! Thank you to whoever invented it.

I’ve seen rave reviews for this thing all over the internet. So when the monitor that was given to us at our baby shower didn’t work (we have too many wireless devices), I ordered this one. Let me tell you, as a first time mom the peace of mind I get from this monitor is invaluable. Maybe I’ve done a little too much research on SIDS, but I’m terrified of it, and the fact that this monitor can detect my child breathing is such a relief. It has allowed me to feel comfortable enough to move my son into his own room across the house! The reception is crystal clear, even with our wireless devices. I love the pendulum that swings to show that it’s detecting movement. We’ve had a couple false alarms, but it was only because my son had scooted into the far corner of the crib. I’m relieved to know that it works! I’ll be recommending this to my pregnant friends!

Our not 3 1/2 month old daughter was born a month early. While she was in the hospital she had stopped breathing one time while I was feeding her- that was enough to scare me to death! Since she came home she has been sleeping in a bassinet next to our bed and I wake up several times a night to check to make sure she’s breathing. I found this online and my husband agreed that we should get it to move her into her crib. It came in the mail and everything works great except the base for the “parent” portion didn’t work. We called customer service and they immediatly sent out a whole new “parent” receiver. AMAZING! I have suggested this to everyone I know that is going to be or has recently had a baby. I couldn’t live without it!
- One side note- the temp. setting isn’t exact and can be off if you have a fan going (we have a ceiling fan). We set our to 65-81 and it was going off alot- we had to change it to 61-83 and now it’s fine.

Our son slept in a crib in our room for the first three months of his life. At that point we decided he needed to move to his own room. We wanted the piece of mind that he was safe in his own room (right next door) and other monitors just didn’t give us that. SIDS is constantly a fear. A friend recommended this monitor. Yes, it is a bit pricey but absolutely worth every penny! The pendulum is nice, I can look at that and know he is okay instead of having to sneak into his room as often. The reception is great! When the windows are open, a barking dog outside our house was actually louder on the monitor than it was in our room (on the same side of the house as our sons)! We have had multiple false alarms but they are all due to him being off the sensor pad. If the sensor pad was bigger that would be nice but it is also somewhat reassuring when you have a false alarm- you know the product is actually working! Definatly the best purchase we have made for our son!
If I can reccommend another product in relation to the prevention of SIDS… We kept our sons crib completely empty of any blankets and even a bumper because of the risk of SIDS. Then as he got a little older he would roll around so much his poor little arms and legs would get stuck in the crib slats not to mention the many games of “find the binky on the floor” in the middle of the night because it rolled out of his crib. I started looking online and found this bumper. It really is breathable and keeps all his limbs, and binkys, in his crib. We rest so much better now at night knowing our son is breathing all the time and he isn’t in any pain because he got his limb stuck in a slot. I can’t recommend these two products enough!
