Andy heads off to cowboy camp leaving his toys to their own devices. Things shift into high gear when an obsessive toy collector named Al McWhiggin (owner of Al’s Toy Barn) kidnaps Woody. At Al’s apartment, Woody discovers that he is a highly valued collectible from a 1950s TV show called Woody’s Roundup, and he meets the other prized toys from that show, Jessie the Cowgirl, Bullseye the Horse, and Stinky Pete the Prospector. Back at the scene of the crime, Buzz Lightyear and the other toys from Andy’s room, Mr. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, Rex and Hamm spring into action to rescue their pal from winding up as a museum piece. The toys get into one predicament after another in their daring race to get Woody before Andy returns.

I won’t spend time on the movies themselves, except to say that they’re two of the most entertaining films ever made. Instead, let’s focus on why to get the 3-DVD set instead of the 2-DVD set. The third DVD is truly impressive. You’ll find fully-animated deleted scenes; funny & interesting interviews with cast, crew, animators, etc.; an absolutly hysterical debate on “Who’s the best character?” with Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and the whole cast; some very detailed explanations of the techniques used to create the movies; and so much more. I’ve spent over three hours on Disc 3 alone so far, and there’s a lot more to go!There are even cool hidden features. For example, on Disc 3 choose ‘Toy Story 2.’ Under the ‘Story’ section, choose ‘Jesse’s Song.’ On the next screen that appears, press the ‘Left’ arrow key on your remote control & you’ll see a question mark. With the question mark highlighted, hit ‘Enter’ for a outtake with an introduction by the directors. The sound & picture quality on all three discs are the best I’ve seen on DVD. Helps when the whole movie was CREATED digitally, eh? 
All in all “The Ultimate Toy Box” is the best DVD set around, bar none. Well worth the extra money!

If you’re an “extras” hound like me, “Toy Story & Toy Story 2 – The Ultimate Toy Box” is the promised land. Hands down the best goodies of any DVD to this date. Oh yeah, and you get two excellent movies too!

This is a beautifully packaged collection! Get one while supplies last, it may prove as valuable as a vintage Woody doll. Pixar really came up with something wonderful in these two stories, both provide such engaging accounts of one’s [longing] for toys of the past. My kids treasure these two movies and the dialog is witty enough to draw parents into the stories. Toy Story II builds on the former, introducing a wider range of characters and offering a light-hearted parable on the collection mania in America. One too many out of the frying pan and into the fire situations for my taste, but the action keeps kids enthralled throughout. Hanks and Allen lend great voice to the battling lead characters, and there are many other wonderful voices as well. The only drawback (and it is a mild one) is not mixing Pixar toys with real family members. I think that would have made the stories even more compelling.

I took my Niece to see it and expected it to begood but I was not prepared for what followed. What a terrific movie.Woody and Buz have worked through the problems that existed between them in the first Toy Story and have become the best of friends. I laughed throughout the movie. What humor, I loved the scene where Mrs. Potato Head is packing Mr. Potato Head for his trip to save Woody and she packs his angry eyes “just in case”. The depth of the personalities, the humor and thoughtfulness of each of the characters makes me feel as though these are real people. I have put this movie on my list of “All Time Favorites” My Niece is 5 and I am 47 and we both loved it. I am eagerly waiting for it to be available for home viewing so I can own my own copy. Hats off to Disney and Pixar for a job well done.

For those who missed out on the earlier two dvd releases of “toy story 2″ have a reason to cheer now! Their patience seems to have paid off. Thanks to buena vista, All new special edition of pixar’s superbly crafted, highly entertaining masterpiece will be available on dec26.
This being the first ever two disc release of the film, most of the special features available on the toy box and the single disc release will be here. Of course, there’ll be quite a few new features as well alongwith a DTS track, a pixar dvd first(also available on the recently released 2 disc set of toy story 1 dvd).
As usual, first disc will contain the main feature which has been digitally remastered using higher bitrate with picture direct from pixar’s digital source. Two audio tracks will be available on the disc, dolby digital 5.1 EX and DTS 5.1 ES. There will also be a commentary track for the enthusiast, featuring John Lasseter and his creative team including Lee Unkrich, Ash Brannon and Andrew Stanton. Sneak peak of pixar’s highly anticipated film “cars” will be the only other feature on this disc.

My wife and kids (11 and13) actually kind of dragged me to see this one in the theater. Boy was I happy that they did! Toy Story 2 is really a great movie that had us all laughing a lot. It also provides for some very emotional moments (Jessie’s song remembering her time as a favorite toy, among others). Many of the jokes refer to the first Toy Story, so it really helps if you know that one. What I personally liked best, though, has become a great “habit” with Pixar: The end trailors where the “stars” get to be their “own self”: Here especially “Tour Guide Barbie” was a blast!Enjoy… I can’t wait for it to come out on DVD to once again enjoy the great graphics AND sound effects that so impressed me in the theater last week!
