We purchased this product based on reviews of those who had already purchased the potty. We do not feel comfortable taking our son (28 months) to public restrooms for sanitary reasons. We also knew we could not let him potty in his pullups considering he is still being potty trained. I must say, the potty itself is great. It had our son’s interest before we took it out of the box. I think what made him not intimated in the potty are the colors and the two compartments. Within ten minutes of taking it out and cleaning it, he wanted to sit…and the first time was a success!! He has used it at least thirty times and is now at the point where he tries to take out the dirty bag and replace it with a clean bag. We definitely would not advise of this because of the potential mess (see cons). To sum it up, pros: portable, lighweight, adequate storage for underwear, baby wipes, and extra storage bags. We can fit about six-eight pullups, fifteen bags, and half a pack of baby wipes in both compartments with additional space left. For those that are wondering about the bags, we just buy the generic brand of gallon bags and they work just fine. Cons: the circumference of the potty seat is too small (for a boy). Our son is very, very tall for his age (over three feet tall), but he is petite. Although his legs are very long, he does just fine sitting on it, despite some of the reviews we read. There is a weak attempt at including a “shield” so that the boys can aim downward, but it is just that…an attempt. We have had to teach our son to hold his weewee down while he peepees. :-) Overall, we do and have already recommended this product to family and friends.

We absolutely love this potty chair. It made potty training on the go a breeze. It is so easy to use and compact. My 3 1/2 year old still uses it she can even unfold it herself and get the wipes out of one side with out my help. I f you are like me I have public bathroom phobia especially now that I have 14 month old who touches the toilet every time her sister is in there. I have been using it for over a year now and it is still as good as new. We leave it in the car and use it probably every time we go somewhere. I just buy the cheapest gallon size baggies so you can just zip up the smell if you know what I mean. The side compartments are great I keep the un-used baggies in one side and wipes in the other. This is the travel potty to get.

A friend of mine suggested buying this potty for travel. I like the fact that it uses zip lock bags. It’s easy to put together and folds up quickly. The only down side to this potty is that I have a boy and there is no pee shield on it. Probably better for girls than boys.

There are several options on the market:

    1. “Potette On-The-Go Potty” by Kalencom

On The Go Potty – Pink

On The Go Potty – Blue

    2. the new Fisher Price’s On-the-Go potty” and

    Fisher-Price On-The-Go Potty

    3. the “Spill Proof” Travel Potty (Google for a link)

However, I like this model better for several reasons:

    1. Bags are just cheap, grocery store zipper bags

    2. Seems comfortable (flat seat; good diameter)

    2. It has containers on the sides to hold stuff (wipes, alcohol, t-paper, baggies)

    3. The sides fold to become a handhold for the child. No other travel potty seat has this place to hold on, which is nice for a new potty-trainer.

The only negative is that the compartments and the seat where you snap the bag in can be difficult to unlock. It’s just a plastic tooth that locks each part together.

I like that the Fisher Price model has an absorbent pad waste containment system, but that’s just more $$ spent on what a paper towel (or extra toilet paper) could do.

I purchased this travel potty for my 27 months old son. It’s very easy to use and good for traveling but the hole is too small. We only used it once.

I chose this cushioned model over the flat, plastic potty seats because it looked like it was less likely to pinch and would be more comfortable. Going potty in a strange place is already difficult and scary enough for a young potty trainer, I wanted the experience to be as pleasant for her as possible. I’ve read others’ reviews and had to say I was shocked by the bad wrap it’s gotten (regarding collapsing). I don’t know that this (or any other, for that matter) potty seat has a “weight limit,” but I can’t imagine what would make this model more likely to collapse than those thin, plastic folding ones. For what it’s worth, my daughter is 25lb and doesn’t tend to squirm on the potty. That said, my only experience is with this model potty seat, so read my remarks as food for thought.

SIZE: It is thick, but it can still fit in a diaper bag. It takes the space of approximately six diapers.

CLEANABILITY: This one is very easy to clean; no nooks & crannies for bacteria to hide.

    ===UPDATE=== [4/18/2008]

YES! We *still* use this item and love it! We’re not traveling with it anymore because my daughter is comfortable on public toilets w/out it. By the time she was able/comfortable to go on public pottys and hold on, she was done with her toddler potty and we put this on her toilet at home. (It’s just easier/more comfortable for them to go potty with an insert.)

But I have to say… the other day I thought I’d get smart and really CLEAN this baby… I decided to soak it in the tub in a bleach/water mix. Well, the screws in the bottom got rusty. It doesn’t affect the function at all, it just annoys me to know I rusted the screws because I wasn’t thinking about them.

Bottom Line: DON’T :SOAK: YOUR SEAT IN BLEACH SOLUTION OR THE SCREWS WILL RUST.

It broke in 2 at the middle fold dropping my 28 lb 3 yo daughter and the booster into the toilet water in our public library.

We had only used it occasionally for a few months. Until it broke it was very good, soft, secure, portable, and easy to clean, with a nice washable bag to store it in – but I think my daughter will now feel less secure on the potty after it broke under her dropping both her and the broken booster into the cold dirty water.

This would be a great idea IF it actually worked well on elongated toilet seats. Most all public restrooms have elongated toilets and I also have elongated toilets at home…doesn’t work well at all!!! Slips around and easily. Very unhappy with this purchase. If you only intend to use it on regular size toilets then it’s fine. Description of this product should be changed.

This potty seat was great for in other people’s homes. However, when we would be out places and they had the more elongated toilets, it collapsed in on my child several times, which scared her to death and was actually a detriment to potty training. I really loved it for at other houses, though!

This seat was a lifesaver for awhile, but then it snapped into pieces. It is just not that sturdy. Also, I agree that depending on the size of the toliet, it is not always that secure. I am going to buy a full size, one piece non-folding one this time around, put it in a plastic bag and just have more to carry. It may not be as convenient but it is preferable.
